Ute founded Swimsuitaid, through which she was collecting thousands of new or nearly-new swimsuits for boys & girls ages 5 -16, and donating them to schools in the Bahamas. Many children in the Bahamas do not know how to swim because they cannot afford bathing suits which enable them to participate in school swimming lessons. Ute organized donations and accompanied a TV crew to publicize a school in Tanzania, where a swiss sister and her team of local women look after infants and young children who have become orphans. The babies are typically underweight and their mothers died during birth or shortly thereafter. The babies are assigned to the home by the state welfare. This children’s home exists because of the kind donations of individuals and aid organizations.
